Three ways we are unholy: 
Impenitent
Unforgiving
Family problems.
Because we lack faith.

We walk by faith, not by sight.
Because we pray for our own selfish desires—not for God’s will.

Why doesn’t God help us?
Because we want God over the minimum requirements in our life but no more. God demands more.

What God truly wants is a committed life that conforms to the image of His Son (Rom. 8:29).
How do I give myself to God?
Thank God for temptation and the opportunities they present in your life. 
Give yourself and your problems completely to God. 
Realize your ultimate goal is not victory, but a relationship with God Himself.


 

The Conscience of Guilt
Every sin has its consequence.
The greatest consequence of sin is guilt.
Guilt has a purpose (Rom. 3:23; Acts 2:37).
But we must release the guilt.
God has given us a remedy for our past(1 Corinthians 6:9–11).
Principles of Handling Guilt:
Identify the cause your feeling of guilt.
Realize God’s remedy for sin is complete.
Thank God for forgiveness—evenwhen you feel guilty.
Pursue healing in every area of your life.
We Must Learn To Accept God’s Grace.

How does this passage apply to your marriage?
Do nothing from rivalry.
In humility, count your spouse as more important than yourself. 
Look out for the interests of your spouse. 
Why this attitude accomplishes harmony in the home:
It replaces selfishness with service. 
It provides understanding. 
It grants significance. 
It creates trust and mercy. 
It stops hypocrisy.
It communicates love clearly. 
Two things you can’t do with this text: 
Manipulate your spouse. 
Attack your spouse’s behavior.
