Born Of Water

Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus* to him. Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said,

"See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?"

Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.
Acts 8:35 - 38

    Questions for thought:

  • Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God?
  • Based on the Nobelman's question upon seeing water, what was taught to him by Philip in this, the Nobelman's very first lesson about Jesus?
  • Consider the word "if" in the above scripture. Is there a condition, upon who may and may not be baptized?
  • If you believe but have not been baptized, what hinders (prevents) you from obeying the teaching of Jesus*?
Jesus says in John 3:5, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."
Romans 6:4-5 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection
