Calling On The Name Of The Lord

It is our prayer that your salvation was not predicated upon saying "The Sinner's Prayer". If it is, we urge you to search the scriptures and see for yourself that there is nothing similar to that in the New Testament. Nowhere in the scriptures is anyone ever told to do that. Nowhere in the New Testament did any preacher respond to a sinner's question by telling him to say "The Sinner's Prayer". Do you wish to meet the Lord having merely obeyed the commandments of men (Mark 7:7)? In Acts, we read of a man who was a believer in Jesus. He was obedient to Jesus, stricken blind and, oh, so very sorry for his hateful sins against man and moreover, the Son of God. He was praying fervently to Almighty God, having fasted for 3 days. His prayer was stopped. HIS PRAYER WAS STOPPED! The preacher who stopped the prayer, was selected and sent by Jesus himself (Acts 9:11). and that preacher said to Saul (later Paul), "and now, why do you delay? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name." You see, calling is not prayer, but an appeal to God. That same thought is re-stated in (1 Peter 3:21). Those who have been born again can call upon his name, appealing and relying on him for sure fulfillment of the promise of Redemption and Eternal Life. Have you been born again? (John 3:5). Being born of the Spirit is heeding the sword of the spirit (Ephesians 6:17), and moving toward obedience (1 Peter 1:23). Have you been born of water?
